Registration

How do I register?

  • You will need to register online by clicking here.
  • First, choose the class you want, then fill out the forms and set up your payments.
  • Our system works best on a desktop or tablet.
  • We do not take paper registrations.

I only see waitlists. How does that work?

  • When a spot opens up in a class, we call the top spot on our waitlists first.
  • Waitlist priority is given to current students as they progress through our programs.
  • We have no way of knowing how long you will be on the waitlist.
  • We will notify you by email, then a phone call once a spot is made available.
  • You will have 48 hours to accept or deny the spot in a class.

Is there a fee or limit for waitlists?

  • There is no fee to put your name on a waitlist.
  • You can sign up on multiple waitlists and be in a class at the same time if you are waiting for a more desired class time.

How do I sign up for private lessons?

  • You can sign up for swim private lessons by searching for them online.
  • For private gymnastics or tumbling lessons, contact the office. These are arranged directly with the coaches.

What is the best way to search for a class opening?

  • Start with our web page: salemgym.com or the Salem Gymnastics & Swim app.
  • Once you find the class you want, click “register.”
  • The system will take you to the parent portal. Click “Already a customer?” or fill in the information if you aren’t a customer yet.

How do I get to my parent portal?

  • Start at SalemGym.com.
  • Click “Log into Parent Portal” under the “Account” tab.

Do I wait for the next month to start attending class after I have registered?

  • No. Once you find an opening in your desired class and get registered, you can start attending right away!

How will I know when it is time for my child to move up?

  • Watch for the ages that your child’s class serves. If it is getting near your child’s birthday to age out of a class, you may go ahead and put them on a waitlist for the next desired class.
  • Due to the high demand in our classes, it is acceptable for your child to attend a new class a few months before or after the age cutoff.
  • If your child needs to move up due to their skill level, you will be notified by their instructor or a department leader.

Can I register for a date in the future?

  • No. You will start attending lessons immediately when you sign up.
  • For camps or special events, you can register ahead of time, once registration is open.

When should I sign up for a camp or special event?

  • You may sign up for these events as soon as registrations are made available.

Attire & What to do While in the Building

What should we wear to class?

  • For swim: wear a bathing suit. Goggles are optional.
  • For gymnastics: adults, little ones and boys should wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.
  • For girls at the beginner level and higher, wear a leotard to class. They can wear shorts and/or a t-shirt over their leotard. No bare midriffs.
  • Long hair should be tied up off the shoulders (two side ponytails are most comfortable when doing rolls).
  • Bare feet are required.
  • No buckles or zippers.

What is the diaper policy for baby swim?

  • We require all babies to wear a Happy Nappy brand swim diaper until they have been fully potty trained for a year.
  • Babies who are not properly diapered will not be allowed in the pool.
  • These can be purchased in our office or on the Splash About website.

Are masks required?

  • No. Masks are not required in our facility.

What should we bring to class?

  • For swim: Bring a towel, goggles are optional. Parents will keep belongings with them while their child is in class.
  • For gymnastics: If parents are not staying in the building to keep belongings, gymnasts may bring a water bottle and their clothes in a small bag onto the gym floor. The instructor will indicate where they should put their things during class.

What do I do when I arrive?

  • Always check in with the lobby greeter before class. This is how we keep up with your attendance and whether you are eligible for make-up classes.

How do I pick up my child?

  • For swim: Meet your child in the changing room to the right of the pool. Dry them off there before entering the lobby area.
  • For gymnastics: It is best to wait at the gate closest to your child’s class at the time they let out. This allows the instructor to lay eyes on you so that all students are safely accounted for. If you are running late, your child will be waiting at the lobby greeter stand while they watch for you to arrive.

Do I need to stay in the building while my child is in class?

  • For swim: Please stay and watch your child through the window.
  • For gymnastics: If your child is under five years old, please watch from upstairs in the balcony. Children sometimes need to use the restroom and we may need you to help. Students pay attention to their coaches best when you watch from a distance.
  • For children capable of going to the bathroom independently, you may leave the premises during your child’s class. Please arrive on time to pick your child up by walking in or driving up to the front door where they can see you from inside the building.
