The Area’s Premiere Girls Gymnastics Teams

Salem boasts the area’s premiere Girls Competitive Gymnastics Teams, with girls competing at all levels, including the National Level. Over the years, Salem has gained respect as one of the top teams in the Carolinas. Under the direction of Region 8 Hall of Fame Coach Kenny Morphis, our athletes have taken gold at Nationals 14 times and have represented the USA on National and International Teams. Over two dozen athletes have continued gymnastics on college scholarships – check out our Wall of Fame!
Competitive gymnastics teaches the ultimate in goal setting, poise and personal excellence with an emphasis on achieving one’s personal best along with superior sportsmanship – all while balancing quality of life both in and out of the gym.
Nationally Ranked Boys Gymnastics Teams

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Salem had a strong Boys Competitive Gymnastics Teams under the tutelage of Bob Kohut. The team’s Super Star was Chris Young, who won National Gold in his Salem uniform. After graduation, Chris continued his career on the USA National Team where he won a silver at the World Championships and competed in the 2000 Olympic Trials. In 2018 Chris returned home to Salem where he rapidly built a growing, thriving, boy’s team. Current members include Robert Banks, 2021 Level 10 National High Bar Champion!
