Mr Jacob competes in Barbados

Jacob Wyatt is well known at Salem Gymnastics & Swim for teaching everything from tumbleweeds to tumbling and team, but this weekend he is doing much more!

Jacob is headed to Bridgetown, Barbados for the 2018 Philips & Springer Classic Weightlifting Championship.  Selected to compete after his incredible performance at the USA National Weightlifting Championship, Jacob is currently the number one ranking member of the five man team representing the United States.

“Rabbit”, as Jacob is known in his sport, started training at the age of 14 and has been working hard ever since.  His love for weightlifting stems from his passion to push himself physically; he appreciates being able to lift more and more and see his growth. Coaching at Salem Gymnastics & Swim provides the perfect environment for Jacob to stay in shape and pass on his passion for physical health and gymnastics to our students.  Jacob enjoys traveling and is looking forward to the new experiences and new people this competition will bring to his life.
With high hopes to medal at this National Competition Jacob is attempting to lift a 300+lbs snatch, and a 365+lb clean & jerk, with a body weight of approximately 175lbs.  Jacob has all his concentration on performing well this week, with an aim at competing in the 2020 Olympic Games.
Everyone here at Salem is behind you, Jacob, and we are honored to be a part of your journey!
