Dear Salem Family,
You may have seen the report that Kenny Morphis has been suspended by USA Gymnastics for allegations of sexual misconduct. It is important to know that the allegations do not involve children or athletes and are completely unwarranted.
In 2005, after the conclusion of a gymnastics competition, I gathered at a hotel bar with several other coaches. Later that evening, I had a consensual affair with a female coach from another gym. I take full responsibility for this lapse in moral judgement and I am ashamed. I apologize to my family, my colleagues, and especially to you and your children. As advised by my attorney, I will be stepping away from Salem Gymnastics & Swim until my name is cleared. It is my sincere hope that you will look to Salem’s history of excellence and not my own lapse of moral judgement when choosing activities for your children. – Kenny Morphis
The last few days have been a whirlwind, to say the least. While Kenny certainly made a mistake, his suspension from USA Gymnastics is unjust. An attorney has been retained to address the near irreparable harm done to Kenny’s reputation by this unwarranted suspension. Together we will fight hard to clear Kenny’s name. Kenny and I remain committed to our marriage, and we ask for your prayers and support during this difficult time. – Beth Morphis
Please know that our staff stands with us and remains committed to continuing the same safe, quality programming that Salem has been known for over the past decades. Classes will continue, uninterrupted, as we move forward. We have great people, great students, and are confident that Salem will continue to be known as the place Where Confidence Soars.
Thank you for your continued support, and thanks for choosing Salem Gymnastics & Swim.
Kenny & Beth Morphis
