Competitive Gymnastics Teams

Salem Gymnastics Team Girl Cast Handstand on Bars

The Area’s Premier Girl’s Team

Salem boasts the area’s premiere girl’s team, with girls competing statewide and through the National Level. Over the years, Salem has gained respect as one of the top teams in the Carolinas. Our athletes have taken gold at Nationals 14 times and have represented the USA on National and International Teams. Many of our athletes have continued gymnastics on college scholarships – see our Wall of Fame!

Competitive gymnastics teaches the ultimate in goal setting, poise, and personal excellence. Emphasis is on achieving your own personal best and sportsmanship.

Salem is excited to announce that former National Beam Champion and NCAA gymnast Arien Young is joining our coaching staff in September.  Arien comes with years of coaching experience, and we are thrilled to have her as part of the Salem Team!

Boy’s Competitive Gymnastics returns to Salem

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Salem had a strong boy’s team under the tutelage of Bob Kohut.  The boy’s team’s Super Star was Chris Young, who won National Gold in his Salem uniform.  After graduation, Chris continued gymnastics on the USA National Team where he won a silver at the World Championships and competed in the Olympic Trials.  He then began a successful coaching career, and Chris now returns to Salem to bring boy’s gymnastics back to his gymnastics home.
